
Honoring His Eminence the Mufti of Zahle and the Bekaa by the Union of Islamic Institutions in Brazil

In honor of His Eminence the Mufti of Zahle and Bekaa, Dr. Sheikh Ali Gazzawi, and under the auspices of the Union of Islamic Institutions in Brazil, a celebration was held for His Eminence Mufti Gazzawi at the Grand Islamic Center in Santo Amaro (São Paulo). The accompanying delegation included the Secretary-General of Dar Al-Fatwa in Bekaa, Sheikh Aasim Al-Jarrah, the Head of the Expatriate Affairs Department at Dar Al-Fatwa, Sheikh Abdul Nasser Al-Khatib, the Director of the Zakat Fund - Bekaa Branch, Mr. Kamal Al-Afash. This event was hosted by the President of these institutions, Dr. Mohammad Hussein Al-Zoghbi.
The ceremony was attended by the Honorary Consul General of Lebanon, Mr. Rudy Al-Kazzi, the representative of Dar Al-Fatwa in Brazil and Latin America, the religious attaché Sheikh Ali Dib Al-Khatib, and the President of the Charitable Association in Santo Amaro, Mr. Musab Al-Arrah. Also present were Bishop Don Edgand Madi from the Maronite Church, Sheikh Badri Zein Al-Din from the Islamic Charitable Faith Association, the head of the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf mission in Brazil, Sheikh Antar Baltaji, Sheikh Fahd Al-Imam from the Brazilian Druze House, Mr. Ahmed Hassan Ali, the representative of the Shadhiliya Sufi Order, Friar Marcos de Melo from the Church of San Francisco Monastery, Mr. Lamea Samili, a member of the Gucunulhos City Council, Mr. Fawaz Taha, a member of the Jundiai City Council, former deputy in São Paulo Mr. Auntonio Gualt, former deputy in the Brazilian Parliament Mr. Rodingo Culant, Mr. Clandio dio Roberto DouD, President of the Mount Lebanon Club, Honorary Consul of Lebanon in Campinas Mr. Milad Khouri, and the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Arab Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Guilheme Matta.
Also present were a number of scholars, association presidents, Islamic centers, and leaders of the Lebanese and Arab communities, as well as members of the Lebanese community in Brazil.
