His Eminence, Mufti of Zahle and the Bekaa, Dr. Sheikh Ali Ghazzawi, hosted the Brazilian Ambassador in Lebanon, Tarcisio Costa, on 29/8/2023. The honorary consul of Brazil in Lebanon, Mrs. Saham Al-Harati, accompanied him. The event took place in Azhar Al-Bekaa, with the presence of the Future Movement coordinator in the Central Bekaa, Mayor of Majdal Anjar, Hajj Saeed Yassin, and the head of the Endowments Department in the Bekaa, Sheikh Mohammad Abdul Rahman, along with several sheikhs and expatriates.
His Eminence, the Ghazzawi Mufti, welcomed the attendees, saying, "We welcome you in this religious institution, but it is also a scientific and cultural institution. We consider this day special in following the footsteps of those who preceded us in receiving ministers and ambassadors. You, too, are following in their footsteps, and you are in the natural place. If our expatriates knew about your visit, they would all receive you, and Azhar Al-Bekaa would be more than a station of cooperation with the embassy and the Brazilian consulate, especially during the Zionist aggression. We commend Mrs. Harati, who opened her home and applaud her efforts."
He also informed about the institutions of Dar al-Fatwa in Bekaa, including Azhar Al-Bekaa and the Zakat Fund, highlighting their social activities and charitable work. He stated, "Azhar is a gathering place for all institutions in Bekaa, and we serve all our people in the region. I am delighted to welcome you on behalf of everyone."
The Brazilian Ambassador, Tarcisio Costa, delivered a speech, stating, "It is an honor to receive this warm welcome along with Consul Saham Al-Harati. I have met with you before, and I am honored to meet again with these leaders. I have previously visited the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Dr. Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, who has a positive impact. There are many ties that bind Lebanon and Brazil, and today we have a Brazilian community in Bekaa, some holding dual citizenship, especially in Bekaa. I appreciate the blessing of having the consulate in Qabb Elias, which plays the best role and holds a special place."
The Brazilian Ambassador expressed gratitude to His Eminence, the Ghazzawi Mufti, for his positive work in the region, which has a positive impact and spirit on all segments of the area. He added, 'I appreciate what Azhar and Dar al-Fatwa did during the July war and value your cooperation with the honorary consulate in Qabb Elias. I would like to express my thanks for these relationships that we hope will escalate and become more robust.
